| OK...I'll post today. |
[08 Jun 2005|03:09am] |
Well, we seem to be over the sick ....for now. Watched Sky Captain tonight which just came out in Japan. Mostly liked it. But I was a pulp geek for awhile so I have an appreciation for the style they were going for. Hiroko watched the first 15 minutes and then went to look online for pants after dubbing it boring. It certainly wasn't as good as the Rocketeer. So, I think I'd buy that before this one. Anyway....I'd give it an official rating of "I'd only buy it if it was really really cheap and there wasn't a copy of anything else in that price range more interesting." And if you know me there is almost always something interesting in the cheap rack....CHUD for example.
Because of the sick we lost a bit of money this pay cycle so we are pretty poor. So, I felt sort of guilty buying a L'arc En Ciel cd tonight for 400 yen....about 4 bucks. But it's got the GTO theme song on it....
We had a nice guy from Bangladesh over for dinner last night. He's cool. He's a liver surgeon and cancer researcher who studied in London. All you single ladies should watch out.... He's a doctor, he plays guitar, and he's got sort of that Jeff Goldblum if he was from Bangladesh sort of thing going....and he's single. In the States he'd have to beat the women off with a stick. Ha ha! I met him at my Sunday Japanese class a couple weeks ago.
I'm dreading next week... I work from Monday to Saturday pretty much constantly. It's good for the money. But I'm going to be soooo burnt out afterwards. Tuesday and Sat urday are the worst. Tuesday I work all day at a Junior High then I have to catch a train to Yagi and teach 7-9pm. So that's a 12 hour day. And Saturday I teach from 10 to 9. 10 to noon in Saidaiji then we are doing a seminar for exchange students from about 1 to 9 (or later).... I'm scared. Ha ha! :P
Hiroko has been making cakes in the Microwave this week. She's getting pretty good at it. The first one was more like a sort of burnt cookie. The one tonight was like a cake. Just a little bit harder. They sort of end up resembling shortcake. If she keeps practicing she's going to be a microwave master.
I've been staring at the comics materials in the stores with a lustful eye lately. It's that whole urge to experiment with another country's stuff to see if it's different from my stuff. I had Hiroko translate the paper types for me today....sooon I will have some money to buy and then I will see....mu ha ha ha!

| Happy Birthday Hiroko! |
[31 May 2005|11:28pm] |
Well, in a half hour it will be Hiroko's B-Day. She's been on the phone for a while....we were going to go get more movies and veg out but it looks like the store will be closed before she gets off the phone. :P
So, we'll be ringing in her day with Lord of the Rings. Anyway, aside from her catching my sick and going to the doctor and discovering that what I thought was a cold was a case of the flu....sigh....not much else is going on. Kid sick is evil. She's missed several days of work. I just kept working. hahaha! Her bosses made her leave because she sounded like hell on the phone. More money lost, but I'd be happy if she'd just relax about that and get better.
I have to ride the train into Osaka tomorrow for my night classes. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't suck up my whole afternoon and evening to do it.
Yeah. So, I hope Hiroko has a good birthday and stuff. :D

| i have a cold... |
[15 May 2005|06:48pm] |
ok. so i started working at a kindergarten on thursdays, and one of the little snot noses gave me a cold.... figures. this will either kill me or it will raise my immune system to god like proportions. I don't usually get sick normally, so collecting Japanese childhood diseases is probably like Russian Roulette...
Anyway, sorry for the lack of postage I've been busy with job nonsense and life in general. Hopefully I'll get back into the groove soon. I have pics and stuff to upload. :D

| They're letting me stay here... |
[18 Apr 2005|01:21pm] |
Well, as of today I'm official. I can work and live here pretty much indefinitely. I just got my Spouse visa glued in my passport. Now I just need enough work so we don't have any other problems. It's amazing how different the process is in Japan. It took no time and only 2 visits to the immigration people for this to be done. And it cost 40 dollars. Compare that to the US, where it takes 8 months on the average and costs several hundred dollars. :P
Anyway, happy that's over. :D

ok. well...I have new pics and stuff they are even uploaded already. I just haven't had time to write a new entry. I just got home from sitting in on some classes at the Nara International Center since I start teaching there tonight at 7. It seems like a cool gig. Anyway. I'll try to get that entry put together before I have to leave....wish me luck.

You're Not a Hipster! Take What sort of Hipster are you? today! Created with Rum and Monkey's Personality Test Generator.</p>You're actually not much of a Hipster. Congratulations! You may have Hipster style, but you're healthy, you eat right, you have a decent job you enjoy, your finances are stable, you plan on buying a house (if you don't already own one) and settling down before you're 35, you have friends you like, your friends like you, and you can honestly say you're pretty damn happy. Perhaps you should adopt a Hipster and draw them into your perfect lair . . .

| burning..... |
[22 Mar 2005|11:48pm] |
ahhhh.....i'm typing this from my mum's place in Fargo. Currently, I haven't really been able to stop moving since my last post. ....well. I got 2 hours of sleep the night before last, and i slipped into a coma around 7:30 am this morning and got up at 12:30. I didn't sleep until 7 because that was when we got everything packed and moved to my mom's. we didn't unload until this evening, for obvious reasons.
So, other things i did today, sorted laundry. did paperwork. cleaned out my old wallet. opened a bank account. Went to JC Penney and bought the first suit I've ever purchased....Hiroko said i would need one and i figured it would be easier to get one here and cheaper. It's swanky.
Now I have about 4 hours before I have to get in the car and go to the airport. All I have left to do is the packing .....hahahaha! I can barely move my body and thinking is a feat of will at this point. Soooo, wish me luck. At least I put all my important docs in a bag while I was still conscious.
I just got 102 emails and not one of them was from somebody i knew....

[19 Mar 2005|09:56pm] |
Hi....
In the last two days I've battled snowstorms to sell 8 big boxes of books and comics and two bags of dvds....
I've removed most of the unwanted furniture from my place. all i have left is stuff people are coming to get in the next two days, a bunch of metal shelves, a lamp, and two pieces of garbage that my computers are sitting on.
tonight i have to start bagging up garbage and I still have no idea what to do with the star wars toys....maybe i can get rich to ebay them.
hahaha! i feel like there are 5000 things to do and i only have time to do 10 of them. :P
